Calendar of FestiVAl100 events abroad

As part of FestivAL100, you can look forward to all kinds of events—from exhibitions to discussions, lectures, student workshops, and teacher training sessions. Whether you’re from Prague or Brno, Germany or France, you can choose exactly what you enjoy. The FestivAL100 educational program for students and teachers will launch in fall 2025 with a series of workshops focused on enriching civic and values education, literature, and history.

The workshops are based on reading strategies and character education principles and can be easily integrated into teaching, where they develop not only reading and civic literacy, but also critical thinking. The educational program also corresponds to the educational goals of the Framework Educational Program.

The first event for the public will take place on December 9, 2025, at the Václav Havel Library in Prague.

What comes to mind when you hear the name Arnošt Lustig?

Perhaps not much, perhaps nothing , and that would be a shame. FestivAL100, an international celebration of humanity, is being created to mark the 100th anniversary of Arnošt Lustig’s birth. The program conveys a message about the power of humanity as reflected in his work.

At the same time, it emphasizes inalienable human rights, without which “man is just an animal that speaks human language.”

Round table with literary scholars devoted to a critical look at the literary contribution of Arnošt Lustig’s prose.

The cultural event that will kick off the entire festival for the general public will be a round table discussion with literary scholars. The event will take place on December 9, 2025, at the Václav Havel Library, and is intended not only for people interested in literature at a professional level, but also for laymen and students.

Support the Round Table with literary scholars dedicated to a critical perspective on the literary contribution of Arnošt Lustig’s prose, and become a bearer of the legacy of Lustig’s humanism.
